If you've ever had Biotivia's or another certified reputable maker's 99+% pure trans-resveratrol, and opened a capsule, you will know it's a pure white substance. And if you've tasted it, you will know it has a strong bite and distinctive sort of peppery flavor. (In fact, this is how I can tell if I've left a bottle sitting too long and it's lost potency). If you've had racemic (50% trans, 50% cis) resveratrol, and done the same things, you'll know it is tan to brown and tastes sort of like mud. Only trans is active, and often pure trans substances are far more than twice as biologically active when administered without their cis counterpart (due to competitive blocking or effects of that nature). For those who don't know, trans and cis refer to the left- or right- 'handedness' of a molecule that is otherwise identical; generally both the right- and left-handed mirror images of a given molecule are present in equal parts (i.e., racemic) and it is generally difficult and costly to separate them from each other.

This product is brown, and tastes like mud. Not the remotest bit of trans-resveratrol flavor or bite. Hard to say if it actually is even resveratrol at all, since many other substances are brown and taste like mud. Given the false labeling, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it contains much less than 99% of even racemic resveratrol, if any.

I did some research, and had a very difficult time telling where this product comes from. An address in New Jersey comes up, but it seems to originate in Singapore, where a line of rather fly-by-night Max products are sold on an eBay-like venue.
