At first my dog and I both didn't like the brace. It didnt allow her to walk again like I thought would magically happen, and she wasn't used to it. But it kept her knee isolated after tearing her cruciate ligament and I had to try something because surgery wasn't an option. After a week of wearing it during the day only, not putting it on too tight, and watching her activity closely- she began to use it as a brace by placing her foot lightly on the ground. We started to walk more outside for the next few weeks, slowly and briefly, and then I was able to remind her to put her foot down and not limp and then she started running with it on! No, not fast as ever or walking consistently on all fours, but she was able to go out for a walk and be in the yard without nearly the pain or struggle. After several weeks she could even do this without the brace on, but she still would need it most of the day. Its now 3 months later, with the brace almost rarely worn, a great holistic regime of supplements and glucosomine shots from a great vet who also does realignment therapy-and my dog is walking again and running! She has a slight limp and she'll let me know when she is tired. Her injury isnt healed and it will never heal 100% but this dog is acting like her old self again and I have to thank this product. I believe using it consistently and early after the initial injury truly impacted the success of her mobility. It was well worth the cost! It is a sturdy, reliable, safe, and amazing alternative IF you also check back in with a good vet to make sure the injury is not getting worse. Some surgeoms are quick to advise surgery. That is an expensive option and it may not be best for all dogs. It wasnt for my 19 pound 11 year old dog. So thankful for this product and recommend vets put this into their practice for patients like my dog. I discovered it on my own and I know more can benefit from it.
