Objects that are just inches further away may appear blurred or even distorted. This is because the power that allows you to see an object up close is too strong for viewing intermediate objects like your computer screen. This optical quality frame uses a CR39 aspheric designed scratch resistant lens with no visible lines. You should know that most glasses advertised as computer reading glasses are inexpensive cheaters with an added anti-glare coating, or a very subtle tint, to reduce glare and reflection. The magnification of normal reading glasses functions at the distance at which you would comfortably hold a page to read it - 14 to 18 inches. I thought that this would be a lot to spend on "readers." However, after finding an optometrist who told me that my dissatisfaction with progressive lenses and bifocal contacts was due to the fact that I only needed correction for close vision, I have been a lot happier with just readers. These do a great job of helping me read fine print like aspirin bottles but also work very well at laptop/computer screen distances. The optometrist recommended +1.5 and the half-magnification on the top part of the lenses (for computers/mid distance) works as well as advertised. In addition the frames are light, comfortable and attractive - they don't look like "old-person" readers. The only thing I wish they had at this price is a non-glare coating. I notice that with light behind me the lenses to catch some glare. That said, you could get 3-5 pair of these for the price of cheap regular frames and prescription lenses, so it's hard to complain. I would buy these again in a heartbeat.
