IN SHORT: I should preface this with my occupation. I am a paramedic. So, this kind of item is kinda my thing. I have been assembling a good trauma first aid kit, and this stuff is wonderful, as long as you know what it's good for. This is good for large area dressing where a dry sterile (large 3rd degree burns) or consider using it to hold a cloth or gauze pad to a wound for pressure dressing for bleeding control. (Though for specific use as a pressure dressing, I would recommend Coban, 2" x 5 yds stretched-Tan-1ct for that task.) Kerlix, in a pinch, can also be used in field medicine for attaching a stick ("hiker's splint") or it can be used for immobilizing potentially broken or potentially dislocated items. Kerlix is especially good at these things because the roll is considerably wide, running at 4.5", meaning there is much more even pressure on whatever you're working with, provided you use it correctly.
