Product Feature
- Channels photon energy to the hair follicle
- Greatly improves effectiveness on light colored hair
- For use with all laser and IPL epilation systems
Product Description
Cosmetic Laser and Intense Pulsed Light devices are effective in permanent hair removal because they destroy the capacity of the follicle to produce a hair. The hair itself, particularly light colored hair, is a poor transmitter of the photon energy that needs to reach the follicle in order to do its job. Even dark hair has only about a 50% efficiency rating in turning the laser or pulsed light energy into the heat that is needed to destroy the follicle.
While diode lasers and intense pulsed light systems can be used without hair being removed or shaved before the treatment has begun, many practitioners remove the hair prior to treatment, either by waxing or tweezing the area to be treated. With the follicle empty, the carbon dye is not only necessary, the end result is much more effective.
The dye prepares the empty hair follicle to have up to 99% of the photon energy focused on the follicle tissue below the skin, resulting in a much more effective treatment, and a client who is much more pleased with the practitioner's work.

</p>Carbon Dye, 1000ml Review
The hair on my legs and under my arms is medium to fine and blonde to light brown. After 8 laser sessions on my underarms, I was disappointed with the amount of hair that was left unaffected. Naturally, I was warned that the laser doesn't affect lighter hair, but of course I was still disappointed! After doing some research, I found information about this carbon dye product. It was not a big financial risk and my dermatologist, though skeptical about potential effectiveness, didn't seem to have any health concerns about my using it. I cleared usage with my practitioner (who was also dubious about effectiveness) and had my first session using the carbon dye on 8/2/12. Her laser goes up to level 15 and we'd used up to a setting of 11 before. With the dye, we dropped to a level 8. I had no additional discomfort with the laser, just the usual little zap sensation.
I admit I was very surprised at the good results after 6 weeks! The density of grow-out was sparse, making it a painstaking process to try to isolate, wax and tweeze the stragglers out for my second appt. However, spurred on by the good results, I did my very best to thoroughly pluck all remainders out by the root so the dye could do its work again. I had my second session yesterday, and did not even make another appointment. I want to give it three good months for all hair to cycle back out before making a final assessment, but based on the first 6 week result, I could easily live with that for the rest of my life!
Next... my legs, which have also had four treatments and are thinned but still sporting resistant blonde, fine hairs. I'm looking forward to trying the carbon on them too!
For the best tutorial I found online on how to use the carbon dye product, I suggest the blow-by-blow description by clippered1 in an essentialdayspa(dot)com forum entry. I cannot provide the direct link (Amazon scrubs it), but if you google: essential day spa 39102 =400 the correct page should be the first result. Clippered1's detailed description is at the bottom of the page (page 17 of a forum discussion called VISS IPL).
