I've been grinding my teeth at night for years. About a year ago, my dentist told me I need to start wearing a night guard to protect my teeth. She showed me a hard acrylic guard but said that it costs $600! I can't afford that. Luckily I stumbled upon this pair for only $85, a huge difference from the original $600.

The mold kit came in the mail with extremely easy instructions. It came with 2 mold trays to accomodate large and small mouths. Unfortunately the smaller tray was still a little too big for my mouth so it dug into my gums a little, but it wasn't in my mouth for very long so I sucked it up.

The return envelope already had stamps on it, but not enough so I had to add an extra stamp to mail my mold.

I waited 20 days before I received my bite guard. They didn't send a shipping number or notify me that I should be expecting it soon. I had to email the company to ask for a status update of my order. However the response was prompt and they said that they made the bite guard that day and immediately shipped it out.

The night guard was a hard acrylic with a soft plastic interior. It fit snug around my teeth and there weren't any "rough" edges. Although it felt a little bulky it was not uncomfortable or as big as those boil and bite pieces. The first night I already had some imprints on the hard plastic from my opposite teeth, but not significant enough for me to worry that this bite guard won't hold up for a while.

All in all I'm extremely pleased with my order and their customer service. I'm definitely glad I went with this company instead of paying $600 for a similar bite guard through my dentist.

UPDATE (10/6/11): I guess my jaw is super strong because there are huge indents in the acrylic. It looks like I took a chip off the end but it's not sharp. The soft interior is starting to come up too. At this rate, I think I'm going to bite through the guard in less than a month from now. I'm not sure what I want to do next.

UPDATE (10/23/11): It's totally cracked now. Pieces of acrylic are now hanging off and I think my teeth are touching now. I'm wondering if I would have chewed through the dentist version. The dentist said her's would last about 3 years at $600. I burned through a $85 bite guard in a month. That means if I continue burning through these bite guards in for 3 years, it'll cost me $1800 (that's assuming the company will continue charging only $50/bite guard if they have the molds). Is it worth it?

UPDATE (11/8/11): I made an exchange (a week ago) and received my new one today. They let me upgrade for $20 to a more rigid plastic without the soft interior. I'm hoping that this will be a good solution. It seems like a tighter fit than the old one. I'm glad that this company is very friendly and easy to work with.
